Science

In p7 we have been learning about micro-organisms with our teacher Mr Horan. we have been making mouldy bread, we got a bit of bread and sprinkled water on it then put it in a bag and cellotaped the bag shut and after a couple of days we looked at it and it was all mouldy. We looked at through a microscope and seen what organisms look like up close we done some activities looked at videos and we even made our own micro-organism we had to name them I did Joey virus it turns anyone i want into Joey Essex. This was us making bacteria dots. We done a science experiment on bananas and yeast we got 1 banana a sachet of yeast and 2 freezer bags in one of the the bags we put half a banana and sealed it and in the other bag we put the other half of the banana and the bag of yeast and sealed it we left it a few days. After the few days sealed we looked at them and the bag with just the half of a banana was a bit mushy but ok and the bag with the half of a banana and yeast was like liquid and it stunk. We had fun learning about micro-organisms and doing experiments.

Learning Irish

In P7B we have been learning to speak Irish with our student teacher Mr Horren. We have learned to say ‘hello’ ‘how are you’ and a lot more. We started to learn about Irish in February. ‘Dia Duit’ means hello in Irish, ‘Conas ata tu?’ Means how are you. ‘Ta me ceart go leor’ means I’m ok, ‘Ta fearg orm’ means I am angry/upset and ‘Ta bron orm’ means I am sad. A lot of children in P7B really liked learning Irish with Mr Horren and we look forward to when he comes back from University after the Easter holidays.

I Am Arts

Some of primary 7 and 6 took part in the I Am Arts award. The I Am Arts award takes place every year, where lots of dance groups come together to perform big dance. They practised dances and songs, made poems and art, with help from Miss Black and Rowan the dance teacher. We learned a dance routine that we had to perform in the Glasgow Royal Theatre in front of lots of people! It took 3 days to learn and it was really fun. There was several different groups that took part after us (we were second on the stage). In Glasgow they had their dress rehearsal on stage. Then after a couple of hours they performed on the stage and got a very loud applause. They were very proud since big Scottish ballet schools have performed there. Kilbowie hope there will be another chance like this again!

Learning Spanish

This term we have been learning about Spanish. We did loads of tasks.Last year in P6 our teacher was doing a Spanish course which meant we learned it really quickly and easily, we all enjoyed it. One of the tasks we did was that we had to write all the colours in Spanish and circle them in the right colour. Then we had a Spanish teacher all the way from Spain to visit us. She asked us if anyone wanted to do a Spanish book at the gathering. We have also got the choice to do a spanish showcase in Clydebank Town Hall. We have also learned all the numbers up to 20.We also made a spanish age slider which tells us how to say ‘i have 11 years’. They don’t 'i am’ instead they say ‘i have’.
